Website Design Secrets that Increase Lead Generation

A solid website is an important part of generating leads and boosting conversion rates. Nobody wants to spend their time trying to navigate a frustrating website that’s hard to read, which is precisely why user experience (UX) is such an important part of web design.

Are you interested in revamping your website to attract new customers while still keeping the ones you have? Here are some web design secrets that top companies use to skyrocket their leads:

1. Include your contact details

This sounds like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many websites out there that forget to do this. If the purpose of your website is to generate and convert leads, you’ll have to be reachable. There’s nothing worse than coming across a website that’s selling something you’re interested in, only to find no way to reach them about questions.

Linking your Twitter handle isn’t enough. A lot of people aren’t going to take the time load the Twitter website or open their app to message you. Provide an email form rather; even a contact number when possible. You’ll be surprised how many people will contact you looking for answers about your goods and services.

2. Your website needs to be easy on the resources

Just because you have the ability to design a flashy, multimedia-heavy site doesn’t mean you should. Think about your customers. Not everyone is using the latest computers or surfing with Google Fiber.

Nearly half of customers want your website to load within two seconds, and 40 percent of them are going to exit out of your site if it takes longer than three seconds. While that doesn’t mean that you need to design an outdated website that looks like it’s 17-years-old, less can be more.

Also, consider rolling out an Accelerated Mobile Page (AMP) of your website to keep those loading times down for mobile users.

3. Be mobile friendly

A lot of research has been done on the importance of responsive web design (RWD) and why it’s a quintessential component of web design. Just have a look at these statistics to drive the point home:

With the internet becoming more mobile-oriented, it’ll be impossible to stay on top of trends without web design that prioritizes smartphones and tablets.

4. Incorporate visual content

Visual content can come in a number of forms. Flowcharts, infographics, pictures, and webcomics are all great ways to get the point across. Your readers are also less likely to skip over it than they would a wall of text presented in a blog.

Scientifically speaking, our brain processes visual content 60,000 times faster than it does when we read text. You can capitalize on that by designing a website that’s filled with images that convey your goods and services in a way that’s quick and easy to understand.

The Takeaway

Good web design is just as important as creating a successful marketing strategy.  Increase your leads by taking some time to think about your customers want out of your website, and how you can efficiently meet their needs.
